Farmer Sr., passed away January 11, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born in 1926 to Emmett and Cecilia King Farmer. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and then served in the US Army Air Corps as a Sergeant during WWII. He served in France and Germany while overseas.
In 1950, he married Germaine Muza. He graduated from Business College and worked for Farmer Investment and Security Company and then Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for 25 years.
John and Germaine had four children. They enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. John particularly enjoyed woodworking and his music. He made many beautiful things with wood. He was a member of the VFW and played in their band for many years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Emmett Jr; a sister, Beverly and a daughter, Josephine.
Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Germaine; his sons, John Jr. (Jack) and his wife (Susan) of Oshkosh, Michael (Tina) of Fort Atkinson and a daughter, Anne (Jeff) Redemann of Oshkosh. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Justin (Heather) Redemann, Jill (Gabe) Folletz, Scott Farmer, Amy (Jason) Goebel, Paul (Becky Berger) Farmer and Alison Farmer; six great grandchildren, Taylor, Chloe, and Josie Farmer, Trenton Goebel, Daymon Farmer and Benjamin Folletz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary Site (605 Merritt Ave.) with Fr. James Jugenheimer officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to the Mass. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park on Monday January 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Military Honors. A memorial is being established in John's name.
