Allen Clarence Zietlow

August 10, 1940 — October 26, 2017

Allen C. Zietlow, 77, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, died on Oct. 26 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Allen was born Aug. 10, 1940 in Berlin, Wisconsin to Clarence and Esther (Bahr) Zietlow. He graduated from Berlin High School and Fox Valley Technical College and worked in the grocery business starting at Weirs Food Town in Berlin while in high school and continuing at the Piggly Wiggly stores in Oshkosh until his retirement in 2002.
Allen married Jean Hornig on July 28, 1962 at Mount Morris Lutheran Church.
Allen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he ushered, served on the church council, helped keep the lawn mowed, was president of the Jericho Road Ministries Board, and volunteered at the Lutheran Food Pantry and Job’s Closet.
When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Allen enjoyed home-improvement projects, gardening and cheering for the Packers and Badgers.
Allen is survived by his wife, Jean, and their three children: Tom Zietlow of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Pat Miller (Mark) of Fitchburg, Wisconsin; and Pam Wells (Clark) of Hudsonville, Michigan. He also is survived by five grandchildren: Sheenna (Matt) Budnik, Daniel Wells, Gwen Miller, Riley Wells and Sonia Miller and one great-grandchild, Yume Budnik.
He also is survived by his sister-in-law, Audrey Dredske of Wautoma, Wisconsin; and his brother-in-laws, John Hornig (Janeth), of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and Kenneth Hornig, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and his cousin, Joby Zietlow of Berlin, Wisconsin.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Faye Clow.
A visitation for Allen will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N. Sawyer Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin with the Rev. Jeff Knoll officiating. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Allen’s name will be given to the Lutheran Food Pantry.
