Barney B. Filtz

Barney B. Filtz, age 74, passed away after a long fight with Alzheimer’s / Dementia disease on November 8, 2017. Barney was born to the late Edward and Mary (Adamski) Filtz on July 29, 1943 in Peplin, WI. Barney married the love of his life, Shirley Van Doren, on March 23, 1966 in Shawano, WI. Barney and family lived in Dancy, WI until 1988. In 1988 Barney’s family moved to Oshkosh, and he worked at Lamico where Barney later retired. Barney’s life was his family. Barney always loved hunting, and fishing with his brothers up north at the family farm; he loved to dance with his wife Shirley at the polka festivals. Barney enjoyed listening to country music, watching old westerns, and WWE Wrestling.
Barney survived by his loving wife Shirley Filtz; three daughters, Katherine (Jeff) Joubert, Betty (Melvin) Leeman, and Patsy (Brian) Morey; four grandchildren, Frances (Cody) Delvaux, Tyler and Anna Leeman, Logan Morey; five great-grandchildren, Corey Buhrow, Alyiah , Derek , Dominic, and Laylah Delvaux; god daughter, Jennifer Tomaszewski; three brothers, Paul, Frank, and Joe (Cathy) Filtz; four sisters, Jenny (Nick) Kirchen, Mary Pascoe, Bernice Van Doren, Sue (Terry) Luscher; and sister in-law Maggie Filtz and brother in-law Gene Van Doren. Barney had many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, Barney is preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Filtz; two brothers-in-law, Fred Pascoe, and Nathan Van Doren; sister-in-law, Diane Filtz; son-in-law, Dennis Buhrow
A funeral service for Barney will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside (100 Lake Pointe Drive, 54904) Visitation from noon to 2 pm. Service with Deacon John Ingala at 2 pm.
The family would like to thank Parkview Health Center and Home Care Nurses for their loving and compassionate care of Barney during his time there.
