Dennis Melford Syvrud

August 1, 1927 — June 21, 2017

Dennis M. Syvrud, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Aurora Medical
Center. He was born on August 1, 1927 in Mt. Horeb to Arthur and Amelia (Lee) Syvrud. Dennis first married Ruth Davis. He later married Betty “Jean” Paulsen.
Dennis graduated from Madison Central High School. After graduating he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years during WWII and later served in the U.S. Air Force reserves during the Korean War. Dennis worked for many years and retired from Rockwell International.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman, enjoyed hunting and playing cards with friends and family and loved being in his home on the lake.
Dennis is survived by his daughters: Rojene (Tom) Lienhardt and Lynn Syvrud; sons: Don (Cherri) and Greg Syvrud; and brothers: Keith (Betty) and Lee (Phyllis) Syvrud. He is further survived by grandchildren: Kris LeDioyt, Julie Jones, Cassie Galvin Darnieder, Allison Fish, Ryan Geier, Tyler and Dylan Lienhardt and Mike Syvrud; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; daughter in law Wendy LeDioyt; and his first wife Ruth.
He was preceded in death by his second wife: Jean Syvrud; parents; sons: Kelly Polishinski and Mike LeDioyt; and brothers: Don (Beverly), Dean (Rita), Paul (Matilda) and Melford Syvrud.
Per Dennis’s wishes a casual service for him will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes- (Westside). Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Again please wear casual clothes as that’s how Dennis would have wanted it.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
