James L. Nerenhausen

August 11, 1926 — October 12, 2017

James L Nerenhausen, age 91, passed away on October 12, 2017 at Lakeshore Manor. He was born in Oconto, WI to the late Jacob and Mable (Meyers) Nerenhausen on August 11, 1926. Jim served as a member of the United States Army. He attended the University of Marquette, where he graduated with a Degree in Electrical Engineering and received his PE shortly thereafter. Jim met Shirley Housner at the University and later married on September 8, 1951.

Jim was an entrepreneur and is best known for founding Nercon Engineering and Manufacturing Inc. in 1976. Jim took pride in his business and for 38 years he enjoyed the challenge of creating design solutions for his customers. He traveled between the Oshkosh and Oconto plants until his retirement in May of 2014. Jim also had a passion for animals and a love for farming. After years of having a hobby farm, he went on to establish Nerfarms in Oconto which was well known for raising Registered Black Angus cattle.

Jim was community minded and over the years was involved in several community organizations: YMCA, The Miss Wisconsin Organization, Oconto Area Humane Society and Animal Shelter, and several local area hospitals to name just a few.

Jim is survived by his two sons: Jay (Kris) Nerenhausen and Glenn Nerenhausen; and two grandchildren: Joshua West and Sana Nerenhausen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, three brothers, Gerald “Corkie”, Grant, and Peter Nerenhausen; and one sister, Tootie.

Per James’ wishes there will be no services held.
