Obituary for June Marion Stamborski

June M. Stamborski, age 93, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday October 15, 2017 at her daughter’s residence. She was born on September 3, 1924 in Oshkosh a daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Steiben) Ostwald. On May 1, 1950 she married Anthony Stamborski in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death in 1996.
June was a member of Zion Lutheran church for 92 years, graduated from Oshkosh High. She worked for Oshkosh B’Gosh during the 40’s and 50’s and then became a homemaker. During her years at Zion she taught Sunday School and VBS, was a member of Women of Zion, and sang in the choir. She was an avid seamstress, baker and cook. She enjoyed shopping trips, especially trips to Door County, Sunday rides in the country with her family and friends, attending her daughter’s many concerts and performances. June lovingly cared for her husband for six years in their home before his passing.
She is survived by her daughter Paula Steinert, nieces and nephews, Richard(Clare) Ostwald, Nancy(Gordon) Russell, James(Anna Mae) Milner, Nancy(Frank) Hornburg, Ronald(Marlyn) Ostwald, Kathleen Loewen, Barbara(Richard) O’Leary, Susie Eighmy, Pat Schettle, Jeff(Patt Seleen) Johnson, Robert(Maggie) Stamborski, step-grandsons William(Carol) Steinert and their children Steven, Nate, Kimmy, and Tony(Chrissy) Steinert and their children Andrew, Melanie, Carly. She is further survived by great nieces and great nephews as well as many close friends especially “The Troxell Clan”, Marshall and Candy Potter, Helen and Gene, Tina, Gary and Sarah, Laura, John.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her siblings Jacob Ostwald, Martha Milner, Mary Anderson, Sam Ostwald, Elizabeth Rouse, Esther Hielsberg, and two infant brothers and her son-in-law Edward Steinert Jr.
A funeral service for June will be held on Friday October 20, 2017 at 6 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church (808 N. Main St.) with Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be at Lake View Memorial Park.
A memorial will be established.
A special thank you to June’s Affinity Hospice team of Ryan, Kelly, Nancy, Chris, Terri, Donna, Christine; Katy, her at-home hair stylist during the final weeks; and special care-giving friends and family who cared for her when her daughter couldn’t be at home including Nancy, Barb, Kathi, Darlene, Jeannie, Jeanette, Dan, Tina, Bev & Tim, Jan, Vivian, and Viv.
Mom, you lived your life with a feisty spirit, a loving heart and a generous nature. I love you to the moon and back and I will miss you greatly. You are now with Dad and Eddie and Cyndi and all the other relatives we miss so much here on Earth. Love Paula
