Randolph Scott Hankwitz

August 22, 1943 — February 10, 2017

Randy was born August 22, 1943 in Fond du Lac, WI. He was the second of three children born of Earl and Anita (Weber) Hankwitz. Randy was baptized and confirmed at Salem United Methodist Church in Fond du Lac. He attended Fond du Lac public schools and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He served his country as a Sergeant Medical Corpsman in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970. As a child, he had fond memories of spending time on his grandparents farm in the town of Black Wolf.Randy married Julie Teichmiller and they had two daughters. On February 14, 1997, Randy married Maribeth Brayton. They spent their summers in Boulder Junction, WI at Camp Holiday. They enjoyed traveling during the winter months to warm destinations; however, one of their favorite trips was to Alaska. Over the years Randy enjoyed downhill skiing, camping, fishing (on Brown Bag Lake), hunting, snowmobiling, NASCAR, and he loved trains. He spent more than 40 years at Camp Holiday fishing, relaxing, and drinking beer with his up north family. Randy looked forward to his annual deer hunting trip to the Doemel family cottage, where he would cook the traditional Thanksgiving dinner for all the hunters. He hunted for years and sometimes never even went in the woods. On one occasion, he even forgot his gun! Randys friendship with the Doemel family was more important to him than getting a deer.Randy was employed by Mercury Marine for more than 40 years in the high performance division. Long after Randy retired, he would get phone calls from his co-workers to help troubleshoot engine problems. Randy was known as Handy Randy. He was always there to fix anything that needed repair and was more than willing to lend a hand to friends, family, and strangers. Randy went to be with his Savior on Friday, February 10, 2017. He passed away at Evergreen Manor surrounded by family.Randy is survived by his wife, Maribeth; daughters: Mindy Hankwitz and Jennifer (Andy) Rogers; grandsons: Derrik and Maxwell; a great-grandson, Wyatt; step-children: Sara (Craig) Kaminski and Beau (Jessica) Schrage, and their children: Anna, Megan, Landon, and Kensington; a brother, Doug Hankwitz; a sister, Pam (Ron) Chalis; nieces and nephews.
