Obituary for Tyler James Zellmer

Tyler J. Zellmer, 34, of Oshkosh passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 3 after a lengthy and tenacious battle with addiction.

Tyler was born January 11, 1984 in Oshkosh to Ted and Sandy Zellmer. He was a graduate of Oshkosh North High School and attended UW Fox Valley, Madison Area Technical College and UW Oshkosh with emphasis in Art and Psychology. He was a lover of all things art, be it music, painting, photography or writing, and he especially enjoyed sharing and discussing those passions with friends and family. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty it brought to the world - the color of a lifting sunrise, the power of a fiery thunderstorm, the freshness of a new snowfall (especially on a gripping snowboard run!), the warmth and crackling of a campside or backyard fire and the friends and conversation it would bring, and the soft sounds at sunset that often helped calm his soul. His gentle demeanor and kind heart were virtues that he shared often as he truly impacted the lives of those around him.

Tyler's time here will be forever and fondly cherished by his parents, his sister Emily, Suamico, WI and his brother Max, Oshkosh. He is further survived by his grandparents, Mary Ellen Zellmer, Oshkosh and Jerome and Diane Spaeth, West Bend, WI, his uncles Tom Zellmer (Cathy), Reedsburg, WI, Tim Zellmer, Sarasota, FL, Terry Zellmer, Palm Springs, CA, Trent Zellmer (Linda), Pearson, WI, Todd Zellmer (Rhonda), Oshkosh, and Dr. Jeff Lutz, West Bend, as well as his aunts Shelly Hussey (Tim), Mequon, WI, and Sara Katz (Jason), West Bend. He is also survived by his cousins Jared and Ben Zellmer; Josh Jones and Shaylon Zellmer; Toby and Lucas Zellmer; Tony, Jeremy, Riley, Natalie and Isabelle Lutz; Hayden and Evan Hussey; Ryder and Kylee Katz, as well as many extended family members and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Zellmer and his aunt Sherry Lutz.

Visitation for Tyler will take place Friday, February 9 from 4-6pm at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Westside location, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh, WI. Visitation will also take place Saturday morning from 9 until noon at Most Blessed Sacrament/St. Mary's Site, 605 Merritt Ave., Oshkosh, WI with services at noon.

Tyler's family would like to thank the first reponders and Oshkosh Police Department for their professionalism and support as well as all who have touched and supported Tyler in his journey. They would also like to thank the staff at Mooring House in Appleton and Pathways in Kiel, WI, along with the friends that he met there as they worked together to confront their challenges (please stay strong!). In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Tyler's name in support of local art and music initiatives.

Our life's journey can sometimes end abruptly, but memories last forever. As we gather to celebrate Tyler's life we will remember his kind words, his soft smile, his long hugs, his dark and soothing eyes, his near-shivering thrill at hearing a master guitar solo or soaking in that beautiful sunset. We'll miss you Tyler. Love, always!
