Agnes Gertrude BauerleinFebruary 12,1928 - November 26, 2015passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, 2015, with her family by her side.Preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Robert Bauerlein of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;parents Elizabeth Purcell and Francis Schretlen of Nijmegen, Holland,; brothers Gerard ("Bluffy"), Edward, Henry and Frank; and by sisters Mary and Celine. She is survived by her children: Charles R. Bauerlein Jr., Paul Bauerlein, Lisa Troncale, Marianna Bauerlein, Gretchen Voll, Heidi Hopkins, Trudy Orthey, Mark Bauerlein, Anne Bauerlein Mergott, Judith Bauerlein, and Matthew Bauerlein; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters Helen Callan, Josepha Eyre, and Elizabeth Standiford, and many nieces and nephews.Born and raised in Nijmegen, Holland, Agnes was a devout Catholic and led a very active spiritual life.In addition to raising a family of 11 children, Agnes was also very engaged in activism for Peace andSocial Justice. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work from Cambridge College in Cambridge, MA., and went on to work with the homeless in Philadelphia. After retiring in the late 90's, Agnes and her husband spent a good deal of time visiting their many children across the country, and enjoyed summers in Belgrade Lakes, Maine and Neenah, Wi.. Her personal courage, commitment, and spiritual fortitude is a continuing inspiration to her family, and to the many friends who's hearts she touched over the course of her remarkable and miraculous life.A Memorial Service will be held in January, 2016 in Philadelphia, PA.The family would like to extend special thanks to her dear friend Dee Dee Risher and her many Caregivers (aka Angels) at Sharehaven: Mary, Jamie, Kristin, Rebecca, Stephanie and Brandy; at Evergreen Kristin K., Vanessa F., Don, Carla, Kari, Ashley, Gian, Jane, James, Rebecca and so many others. We are thankful for her Heartland Hospice team who compassionately cared for her in her final days; Deb, Stacey, Sarah, Dan, Dani and Pao.
