Alfred L. Schettle, 82, of Oshkosh, died Friday Oct. 28, 2005 at his residence. He was born June 27, 1923 in Oshkosh a son of Ernst and Theresa Schatz Schettle. He married Lucille Peterson on November 2, 1946 in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1982.He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was the owner/operator of Als Auto Disposal and worked for the Oshkosh School system as a Custodian for many years.He is survived by two sons, Douglas (Pam) Schettle of Oshkosh, Wayne (Chris) Schettle of Washington; one sister, Elsie Sawicke of Rochelle, IL; two grandchildren, Jay (Nikki) Schettle, Ryan (Erin) Schettle; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Camden; and other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by his housekeeper Judy and his special friend Jan.He was preceded in death by his wife, infant daughter, Julie, and two brothers, William and Joseph.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at 6 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-West with the Rev. Martin Carr officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery where military honors will be performed.A memorial has been established.
