Anne M. Hocking

June 3, 1953 — April 23, 2023

Anne M. Hocking, 69 of Oshkosh, was peacefully called home to the Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was born on June 3, 1953, to Edmund (Mike) and Dorie (Tourville) Ludes. Anne was united in marriage to the love of her life, Rick Hocking, on May 17, 1996.

Anne graduated from Kimberly High School in 1971. She worked various jobs in business prior to opening On This Rock Christian Books and Gifts store in 2003; a calling she credited to God. Her faith was a driving force throughout her life; God’s store was her mission for the last 20 years. She and her husband, Deacon Rick Hocking are faithful members of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish- Oshkosh.

Anne’s beauty was displayed in many ways, inside and out. She loved others greatly and was a wonderful listener and supporter. In 1972 she participated in Miss Appleton and was voted “Miss Congeniality” which she humbly accepted. Anne loved to spend time with friends and family, golf, dance, read, work in her garden, listen to music, laugh, and bring joy to those she met.

Anne is lovingly survived by her husband, Rick Hocking; mother, Dorie Ludes; siblings, Cathy Squires, Steve (Bobbie) Ludes, Laurie Van Asten, Joan (Tom) Zierler and Mary (Steve) Hamilton; stepchildren, Kerry Meinel, Kevin Blaney, and Moira (Ed) Rossi; exchange student and now “daughter” Rita from Budapest, Hungary; sister-in-law, Lynn (Mike) Farrow. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edmund (Mike) Ludes; brother-in-law, Gregory Albrecht; niece, Amy Lynne Van Asten.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish- St. Mary site, 605 Merritt Ave, Oshkosh from 2:00 pm until 6:45 pm with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 29, 2023. There will be no visitation prior to the Mass. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh.

Anne was a staunch supporter of women facing crisis pregnancies and the unborn. Donations can be made in her honor to Vida Medical Clinic of Appleton or Bella Medical Clinic of Oshkosh in lieu of flowers.

Special thanks to all her family and friend caregivers since Anne came home on March 29th. Special thanks also to Jen, Lynn, and Jodi from Promedica Hospice for their compassionate care for Anne.

Finally, thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all our Prayer Warriors who have helped us in so many ways during these last five years. We love you! - Dcn. Rick Hocking
