Arlene Carrick

June 3, 1926 — January 28, 2013

Raeburn Arlene Carrick, 86, of Oshkosh, went home to her Lord on Monday January 28, 2013. Arlene was born on June 3, 1926 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin the eldest daughter of the late Raymond and Amanda(Larson) Tollard. Arlene and her family moved to Oshkosh in 1936. Arlene attended South Park School, being in the first class to graduate from South Park. She attended Oshkosh High School, graduating in 1944. While Jitterbugging at Oshkosh High School she met the love of her life, Jack Carrick. Arlene and Jack were married in Waycross, Georgia on March 2, 1946 while Jack was serving in the United States Navy. Arlene and Jack renewed their wedding vows several times during their life together, most recently on January 7, 2013.In addition to raising her family of seven children, Arlene was known for waitressing at various restaurants in Oshkosh. Arlene also worked as the head Proofreader for the Oshkosh Northwestern and for The Paper of Oshkosh.Arlene and Jack were fortunate to be able to travel extensively across the United States with their children. The greatest joys in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and she was always willing to do whatever she could for any of them. Arlene was a member of St. Marks Ev. Lutheran Church in Neenah and sang in the choir for several years. Arlene was very proud of her Norwegian heritage, passed down to her from her mother and her Norwegian immigrant grandfather.Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Jack Carrick, and their children: Daniel(Gail) of Green Bay; Linda Degner of Oshkosh; Patricia(Thomas) Wenzel of Oshkosh; Debra(David) Rupnow of Randolph; Gregory(Doreen) of Iola; Randall(Tracie) of Scandinavia; Anne(Michael) Langkau of Oshkosh; grandchildren Michelle Degner, Todd Wenzel(special friend Laura Zuege), Troy(Kerry) Wenzel, Timothy(Julie) Wenzel, Tricia(Adam) Voss, Amanda(Jason) Freeman, Rich(Jessica) Eckstein, Kristen Hammes, Hunter, Noah, and Kasandra Carrick, Keegan(Abby) Langkau, Piper Langkau, Debra(David) Stauffacher, Dawn(Gregory) Austin, Adam Norder(Special Friend Nicole Schleif), and 18 great-granchildrenArlene is further survived by her sisters Charlotte(Robert) Miller of Milwaukee, Bethel Reinke of Oshkosh, Shirley(Stanley) Domack of Morrison, Illinois, brother-in-law Arvid (Antonella) Carrick of Oshkosh, sister-in-law LaVerne Carrick of Green Bay, and good friend Alice Gazecki of Menasha.Arlene was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Christine Kropp, son-in-law Frederick Degner her life long childhood friend Rose EsslingerNee Wagner and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.A memorial service for Arlene will be held on Thursday January 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Marks Ev. Lutheran Church(140 S. Green Bay Rd. Neenah, Wi.) with Rev. Stephen W. Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.Arlenes family would like to thank the nurses at Bella Vista, Lakeshore Manor and Heather from Generations Hospice for all of the care and compassion they gave to her over the last several months.
