Barbara Ann Brand

Barbara Ann Brand 91 of Oshkosh died peacefully on September 7, 2012 at Eden Meadows. Barbara was born July 29, 1921 to Myrtle and Robert Brand. She grew up in Oshkosh and spent her entire life there.Barbara graduated from Oshkosh State College. She taught for 41 years in the Oshkosh School District teaching second grade at Read School and at Lincoln School. She returned to Read School when Lincoln School was closed. She was beloved by her students and she was passionate about her pupils. She retired in 1984.She belonged to the Womens Division of the Chamber of Commerce and Retired Teachers of Wisconsin. She also was a life long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Barbara loved boating, traveling and bowling. She was an excellent golfer even though she had never taken a lesson.The love of her life was her four dogs which she owned during her lifetime. They were all Schnauzers and each one was named Buttons.Barbara is survived by her cousin Marcia Leslie, relatives Paul Leslie, sons Griffin and Michael all of Oshkosh, Charles Leslie (Mia) son Matthew of Sugar Land Texas, Deborah Ingram (Tom) Julianne and Connor all of Tinton Falls, New Jersey and Steven Smith Largo, Florida. She has a very special friend, June Schloerb of Littleton, Colorado.She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Robert Brand and a cousin by marriage, Eugene Leslie.Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 4:30 PM at Bethel Home Chapel with Chaplain Cathie VanderVelden officiating. The visitation will be at the Chapel from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.Memorials may be given in her name to the Oshkosh Humane Society or the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh.A very special thanks to the caring staff at Eden Meadows. What wonderful care they gave to Barbara.
