Barbara Louise Hendricksen

Barbara Louise (Campbell) Hendricksen, age 77, entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on September 30th, 2008 after a determined battle with cancer. Barbs was born on September 29, 1931 the daughter of the late Ronald and Lucille (Garbe) Campbell of Oskhosh. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1949 and attended Oshkosh State Teachers College (UW-O) where she majored in Library Science and met Marine Lieutenant Earl Hendricksen, her future husband. They were united in marriage on June 9, 1951. For 22 years they traveled extensively as a military family, before retiring to Oshkosh in 1973. Barbs was a dedicated and devoted military wife and mother. Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 57 years, Earl, Oshkosh; son, Carter (Jeanne) Hendricksen, Oshkosh, and their two daughters Courtney and Christina; daughter, Carla (Kent) Quillia, White River Junction, Vermont, and their three children Garrett, Brett, and Lara. Two brothers, James (Jean) Campbell, Oshkosh WI and Steven (Bonnie) Campbell, Cottage Grove WI; sister-in-law, Jane Collins, Denmark WI; many beloved nieces and nephews, and dear friends.Barbs had a passion for travel, a joyous appreciation for the Arts, and was an avid reader. She lived and traveled extensively throughout the United States and several foreign countries, residing for years in Munich, Germany and Seoul, South Korea as a military wife. She also found great joy traveling to Europe and going on cruises later in life. Her special interests were needlepoint, movies, card club get-togethers, newspaper jumbles, watching Jeopardy, and volunteering at the Oshkosh Public Library. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend.Inurnment will take place at a later date at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh. In celebration of her life, a time of gathering to visit and share memories will be held on Saturday October 4th, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Barbs memory for the MS Foundation and the Aurora (Oshkosh) Hospice providers. Barbs family would like to extend a special appreciation to Evergreen Manor and the Oshkosh Aurora Hospital health care providers and staff, especially the Aurora (Oshkosh) palliative/hospice health care team, who provided hours of comfort and compassionate care during this difficult time.
