Bernice F. Romme

Bernice F. Romme, age 92 took her Masters hand on August 11, 2010 with her loving family at her side. She was born in Oshkosh on March 5, 1918 to William and Frances (Becker) Graffen.Bernice attended Peace Lutheran School and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1935 and the School of Cosmetology in 1937. She worked as a beautician in the Oshkosh area for many years.Bernice married Rayno A. Romme on June 18, 1938 and they shared 47 years. Loving mother of Mary (William) Davis, Suzanne (Richard) Rutledge, Carol (Thomas) Bast, Thomas (Audra) Romme, James (Deborah) Romme, special daughter-in-law, Jean (Ron) Schlaeger, thirteen grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, sister, Doris Mitchell, sister-in-law, Lillian Hansen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son William and one infant great grandchild.Bernice was a life long member of Peace Lutheran Church and was active in Volunteer People of Peace, Peace "Out to Lunch" group, the Universal Foundry Retirees and the Oshkosh Museum Auxiliary.Funeral Services for Bernice will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (240 W 9th Ave) with Rev's Tim Greenwald, Nancy Krueger and Marty Ruge officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the service time. Private entombment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Peace Lutheran Church would be appreciated.Bernice's family extends a special thank you to Aurora Medical Center I.C.U., Creek view South at Evergreen Retirement Community and Aurora Hospice for their care and compassion.
