Betty Jacobson

Betty Poots Jacobson, age 74 of Oshkosh, died on Saturday, February 18, 2012, with her loving family at her side, at Mercy Medical Center after bravely battling four bouts of cancer over the last 12 years. She was born at home in the Township of Richford, Wisconsin on February 6, 1938, the daughter of the late Jule and Ella (Pekowsky) Schubert. She attended primary and middle school at St. Johns Lutheran School in Berlin and graduated from Berlin High School in 1956. She married Marvin Jacobson of Princeton, WI, on August 20, 1958, in Oshkosh. They were blessed with 53 wonderful years together.Betty worked several jobs before establishing herself and retiring after 35 years of service from Ameritech/AT&T. She was a faithful member of Community Church, Oshkosh. She will always be remembered for her extremely giving heart, giving all that she had, without ever giving to herself. She loved the holidays and spending time with her family. She loved to plan and travel with her husband, making numerous trips to Europe, the Mediterranean, Hawaii, and taking several cruises. Her favorite destination of all was her bi-annual visits to their condo in Gatlinburg, TN, for over the last 25 years. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Jacobson of Oshkosh; two sons, Jeffrey (Cathy) Burkee of Bowie, MD; James (Lorita) Jacobson of Oshkosh; two daughters, Jammie (Mick) Dennin of Oshkosh; Jill (Corey) Heft of Oshkosh; twelve grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan, Jason, Rosemary, Christina, Abigail, Jonathan, Jordan, Gary, Turner, Connor and Paityn; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Jacob; one brother, Walter Bud (Alice) Schubert of Berlin and two sisters-in-law, Joan and Geri. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Darwin, and two sisters, Sadie and Lillian.Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She lived her life to make people happy and worried for any person in need. She will be extremely missed by all of the people whose lives she touched over the past 74 years. Funeral services for Betty will be held at Community Church (2351 Ryf Road Oshkosh) on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wyatt Fisher officiating. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside (off Witzel) on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Bell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers-various memorials will be established in her memory to include, Christian Appalachian Project and Cherith International.Special thanks to the ICU and nursing staff at Mercy Medical Center, especially Breana, for the care and compassion given to Betty and her family, as well as the chemo nurses at Central Wisconsin Cancer Center in Fond du Lac.
