Beverly J. Calder

March 25, 1934 — January 13, 2022

Beverly Jane (Plotz) Calder passed peacefully at the age of 87 on January 13, 2022, at Eden Meadows of Oshkosh.  The daughter of the late Herman and Lucille (Sitter) Plotz, Beverly was born on March 25, 1934, in Oshkosh Wisconsin.   She graduated from Oshkosh Senior High School and received her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.   She began her teaching career at Washington School in Neenah before returning to Oshkosh to teach. She taught in the Oshkosh School District at Longfellow and Jacob Shapiro schools before retiring in 1997. Beverly married Gerald E. Calder on June 14, 1958, at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. In her younger years, Beverly was an active member of the AAUW, Junior Women’s Club and other community organizations. Her early involvement with the Homemaker group made close lifelong friendships. She taught Sunday School and Bible School at Peace Lutheran Church when her children were small. In her later years, she enjoyed taking Bible study classes, quilting, and involvement with Care Ministry at Calvary Lutheran Church.  Beverly spent some of her retirement years helping children with reading and math at her grandchildren’s schools. She loved being a part of her children’s family vacations: camping, winter weekends in Door County, and a trip to Disney. She enjoyed getting together to play cards with friends. Her most recent joy was becoming a great grandma. Beverly is survived by her sons: Todd (Mona) Calder, Timothy (Karla) Calder, daughter: Constance (Daniel) Wagner, and daughter-in-law: Julie Calder. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Adam Calder, Caitlin (Tim) King, Ethan Calder, Lindsay Calder (fiancé Sam Gabrilska), McKenzie Calder, Aaron Wagner, Lauren Calder, and great-granddaughter: Audrey King. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Calder and son Peter Calder, her parents, sister Dolores Zimmerman and brother-in-law Earl Zimmerman. A celebration of Bev’s life is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. A service may be viewed on ZOOM on Wednesday January 19, 2022 at 11AM  The Calder family would like to thank the staff at Eden Meadows for providing a comforting and caring place for Beverly during her illness.
