Beverly Mae Sphatt

April 30, 1929 — November 22, 2017

Beverly M. Sphatt, 88 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully to join her husband and son in Heaven on Wednesday November 22, 2017. She was born on April 30, 1929 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Henry and Catherine Leinweber. On November 17, 1951, she married Donald Sphatt. Beverly was a graduate of Oshkosh High School.
Beverly had a busy working life including working for Paine Lumber Company, Zion Lutheran Church and Scharpf’s Office Supply. She was a hard working mother while raising her three children. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her children, son Dennis (Pat) Sphatt and daughter Peggy (Steve) Ruedinger, three very special grandchildren, Katie (Josh) Kuhn, Kevin (Rachel) Ruedinger, and Kyle (special friend Ariel) Ruedinger, and brother Byron. She cherished the time spent with her great-grandchildren Madelynn and Miles Kuhn. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Steve, husband Donald, brother Clifford, and sister Arlyle.
Beverly enjoyed cooking, reading, watching wildlife, sewing/knitting, quilting, and TV programs, especially Family Feud and Everybody Loves Raymond. She was an incredible cook and her family always said she should have had her own restaurant. Everyone knew it would be a great meal at Bev’s! Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was the spark in her life and kept her young at heart.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday November 27, 2017 at 1 pm at the First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Greenwald officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1 pm. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, which Don and Bev supported throughout their lives. Animals were very important to them and their family.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Eden Meadows for their compassionate care.
Mom and Grandma, through all these years you have always been there for us. You always said you were so proud of your family. You taught us all very much. We watched you grow older and slowly weaker, but you were strong to the end. You kept us in line when you thought necessary, and made sure we enjoyed the simple things in life and what was truly important. You lived a life full of laughter and love and we are so grateful to have shared all these years with you. Now Heaven is your forever home to be reunited with your husband, son and meet your Savior. We know you were welcomed with open arms. Peace be with you, until we meet again.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
