Buford Dean Lewis

B. Dean Lewis, 77, of Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, June 11th, at Lakeshore Manor surrounded by his family.Dean was born in East Prairie, Missouri December 30th, 1933. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 serving on the LSM 226 and the USS Canberra-CAG 2. He traveled many places while serving our country and always had endless stories to tell of it. After his years of service he became actively involved in politics. He also opened his own tailor shop, Lewis Custom Shop, in Appleton, WI. He was later employed at Duo Safety Ladder until he retired in 1995. After his retirement he enjoyed care giving for people in their homes and also helping them with any gardening or handy work that needed to be done. Every June, he greatly enjoyed picking strawberries with his daughters. Throughout the years he also enjoyed attending several Navy reunions across the United States. Trying his luck on lottery tickets and at the casino was another favorite past time of his.Dean is survived by his children, Kim(Mike) Holmes, Michelle Lewis, Todd (Tasha) Lewis, Mike Lewis, Georgann (Thomas) Andrejeski, David Lewis, his grandchildren, Dalton and Avery Holmes, Amanda (Brett) Curtis, Melinda (Andy) Hetzel, Maria (John) Duemler, and Bret (Amber)Lewis; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy McDonald of Florida and Jean Hill of Illinois. He is further survived by his sisters children, other extended family and many friends, including a very special friend of 28 years, Lois Potschaider and her family.He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Triplett; an infant daughter; his sister and brothers, and his beloved dog Sam. Memorial services for Dean will be held Wednesday, June 15th, at 7 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM till the time of service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial has been established.The family sends special thanks to Dr. Radford & staff, Dr. Alnouri & staff, and staff at Lakeshore Manor for taking such great care of Dean. Also, a special thank you to Hospice Advantage for their care and compassion throughout his last days.
