Carl Mueller, 96, of Oshkosh died Monday January 22, 2007 at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center, Menasha. He was born June 7, 1910 in Oshkosh a son of the late Wenzel and Sylvia Mueller. Carl married Helen B. Horton on Aug. 9, 1935 in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1989. Carl served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from June 25, 1943 until Oct. 23, 1945. He served aboard the USS Prince William and the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. He worked at Diamond Match Co. and Jay Manufacturing. Carl was an avid swimmer, gymnast, and boxer in his youth, and he enjoyed bowling into his eighth decade. He was a fan of classic comedy by the Marx Brothers and Jackie Gleason, as well as courtroom dramas. Carl loved to challenge his mind with word puzzles like crosswords and cryptograms. After retiring, he developed an interest in chess and became fairly skilled at the game. He was a loyal, lifelong supporter of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers (Braves). He is survived by his only child, a son, Glen D. Mueller of Menasha. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, a brother Louis, and a sister Clara Christiansen. Funeral services for Carl will be held Thursday January 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-East. Family and friends may call at the Waugoo Ave. funeral home from 10:30 AM until the service time. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
