Charles Fernau

September 26, 1923 — October 22, 2005

Charles Fernau, age 82, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at his home surrounded by family. He was born September 26, 1923 in the town of Oshkosh to Charles and Ann (Fredrick) Fernau. After graduating from Oshkosh High School he ran a dairy farm and roadside market with his parents that evolved into the present day Fernaus Greenhouse, of which he played a very active role until his recent illness. On October 16, 1948 he married Lorraine (Pat) Koelbl in Oshkosh. Chuck was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Oshkosh and the Midnight Club.He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Pat of Oshkosh; his sons Robert of Oshkosh and Richard and his wife Debbie of Rush Lake; and his grandchildren Joshua and Bailey Fernau. He is further survived by a sister Marion Hoffmann of Oshkosh, as well as nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were both his parents, and a brother-in-law Kenneth Hoffmann.Funeral services for Charles Fernau will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 7:00 PM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Eastside (402 Waugoo). Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joel Olsen will officiate.A memorial has been established.A heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr. Alzoubi and his staff for the care and compassion they extended during his illness.
