Charles G. Walther, age 81, (father of Lynne Leedle) of Menomonee Falls, died Thursday evening, November 3, 2005 at Bethel Home. He was born on August 11,1924 in Mineral Point, WI to George Edward and Katherine (Graf) Walther. Chuck married Marilyn (Lyn) Hockings on September 23, 1950. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1994.Chuck was a graduate of Platteville High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 until 1946. He graduated from Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee with a degree in Accounting and was employed at Hanson GloveCorporation, Glendale and retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield United of Wisconsin as a Senior Internal Auditor.He will be deeply missed by his three children: Mark (Karil) Walther of Middleton; Lynne (Stan) Leedle of Oshkosh; and Gail DeAlba of San Bruno, CA. Grandpa Charby is survived by his eight grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Kevin Walther, Katie (Brandon) Ripley, Geoff Leedle, and Jakob, Isabella and Elizabeth DeAlba. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.Chuck was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. Chuck followed the U.W. Platteville and U.W. Madison basketball teams and was a lifelong New York Yankees fan.Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bethel Home Chapel with Chaplain Kathy VanderVeldon officiating. Family and friends may call at the chapel from 3:30 p.m. to the service time. There will also be services assisted by Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church (W156N8131 Pilgrim Rd Menomonee Falls, WI). Family and friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. to the service time. Immediately following the service, interment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Memorials in his memory may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Menomonee Falls, Bethel Home or the Alzheimers Association.The family sends a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers at Bethel Home for the love and care shown to Chuck during his stay. You are all a blessing!
