Charles Robert Rayner

September 18, 1948 — July 12, 2006

Charles Robert Rayner passed away at his home on Wednesday July 12, 2006. He was born the son of Charles F. Rayner and Lorinda J. Hoffman on September 18, 1948 in Abbotsford, WI. Both parents predeceased Charles.Charles attended St. Marys Grade School, Lourdes High School, Ripon College (1966-1969) and the University of Wisconsin- Madison (1970-1971). He also studied Communication Dynamics at University of California- Los Angeles (1986-1988). In the early 1970s Chuck owned and operated Terrys Bar in Oshkosh with partner John Weber. For the remainder of his life Chuck was employed in sales.People loved Chuck and Chuck loved people. He had the uncanny ability to simply light up the room with his presence. He was very intelligent, witty, and was blessed with an incredible gift of gab. He could talk to anyone about anything. Especially sports. Chuck lived life hard! Regrets? He had a few but he did live his life his way. He was a great competitor. He played high school football and basketball, and was one of the top pool players in the region during his youth. But Chuck was passionate to a fault about fast pitch softball. An injury in his 20s abbreviated his ability to play sports, but Chuck was the ultimate fan. For many years he was a fixture in the stands at just about any fast pitch softball tournament in the mid-west, and any major tournament in the nation.Although several relatives survive him, he is more appropriately survived by The Hounds. The Hounds would be the incredible collection of friends near and far, rich and poor, who loved him and will miss him dearly. Chucks favorite place on earth was Hanks Club and the membership deserves special recognition for their kindness and support. The other hound in Chucks life, Kelly the Cocker Spaniel, will be forever lonesome for Chuck, as they were virtually inseparable. There will be no formal funeral. However, a memorial celebration of Chucks life will be held from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Terrys Lounge (Formerly Terrys bar), 688 N. Main St. Oshkosh. If additional information is required, call Gary Eake (cousin) at (920) 233-9728 and leave a message.
