Chris E. Freiberg

Chris E. Freiberg, age 66, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 18, 2016 after a sudden illness which resulted in heart failure.He was born in Oshkosh, WI on May 9, 1950 to the late Edward A. Freiberg and Rita (Freiberg) Grunwald. He attended Washington Elementary School, Webster Stanley Jr. High, and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1968. He studied engineering at the University of WI- Oshkosh for two years. He completed an industrial engineering program at the Serge Burn Industrial Engineering School in Louisville, KY and the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program at Fox Valley Technical College.He began work at Fluor Bros. Construction in 1973 as a Laborer/Timekeeper and left in 1997 as an Estimator/Project Manager and Construction Superintendent. He then continued employment at Miron Construction until his retirement in 2011.He enlisted and served in the Army National Guard from 1970-1976. A marriage to Janice Redfield ended after 19 years. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and the South Side Yacht Club.Chris enjoyed boating for many years and acquired numerous friends along the way. He helped organize a yearly barge party on Lake Winnebago, which benefited the Friends of the Buoys. He was also an avid Harley Davidson owner and could be seen riding his cycle spring thru fall. He annually looked forward to deer hunting and vacationing to Mexico with close friends.He is survived by his mother, Rita Grunwald of Oshkosh and his brother Mark (Bonnie) Freiberg of Stevens Point; a nephew Andrew (Crystal) Freiberg of Cleveland, TN and their two children- Archer and Berkley; as well as a niece Sarah Freiberg of Forest Hills, NY.A memorial service will take place at 4PM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside with Rev. Kelly Leary officiating. Visitation will be from 2PM- 4PM Saturday.A memorial will be established at a later date.
