Cindy L. Dettlaff

March 11, 1959 — November 18, 2021

Cindy L. Dettlaff, age 62, passed away with family by her side on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. She was born on March 11, 1959, in Oshkosh to the late Kenneth Mueller and Phyllis (Schmick) Mueller Lesselyoung. She was employed by Oshkosh B’Gosh, Godshall Paper & Box, Shopko Pharmacy and by Mary.

Cindy will be remembered for her joy and spirit. She was always happy to see her family and friends. Her devotion to each one was deep.

Cindy spent much of her life crafting. In her early years, she loved to sew. Later she began painting outdoor signs as well as building birdhouses & outdoor furniture. She also had the knack of taking something broken & worn and turning it into something new. In the last decade, she taught herself to paint on canvas. Her initials and date can be found in a corner of each & every one.

Her creative side always took her on an adventure. From store to store not only did she find that final touch for a project she was focused on for a great price, she found many a friend in the clerks and bank tellers.

She loved being outside & barefoot. She enjoyed tending gardens and feeding the birds (just not the squirrels, LOL.) Cindy kept track of the first’s of each season including when the orioles would arrive.

Cindy will be remembered for her love of the Green Bay Packers; most visible in her Packer attire.

Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She loved to host Christmas for the family. She shopped with enthusiasm for those on her list. She baked, cooked and decorated for weeks making her home open for all of us to gather on Christmas Day.

Cindy is lovingly survived by her husband, Brian Dettlaff; four children: Alissa (Matt Morgan) Brown, Nathan (Mindy) Brown, Jessica (Dave) Scott, Casey (Jon) Potts; six grandchildren: Raina, Austin, Sophie, Bentley, Brenton, Jayce; and five siblings: Nadine (Paul) Weinkauf, Melanie Riemer, Tim (Barb) Mueller, Paul Mueller, Jenny (Gary) Angell and many niece and nephews. She was further preceded in death by an infant sister, Katherine.
