David Howard Moldenhauer

August 8, 2012 — December 6, 2012

David Howard Moldenhauer, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born on August 8, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Howard and Ruth (Stoegbauer) Moldenhauer. Dave attended Parochial School in Princeton and Oshkosh. He was a graduate of Lourdes High School. Dave Proudly served his country in the army, stationed in Germany. He was very honored to have given Andi Fasel her first salute at the commission ceremony upon graduation from UW Stevens Point. Dave was a very talented self-taught artist in many aspects. His love for music was endless. He and many of his friends played music together, coot style at the homestead. Dave had a unique talent for organizing events such as his famous Boat trip in Waupaca to musical events and birthday parties. He was always willing to make sure that everyone had a fun and memorable time. As a businessman, Dave owned and operated Oshkosh Custom Leather, Cemetery Surplus, and Backstage Bar. Through these business endeavors, he was able to display talents of sewing, sculpture molding (he could make a mold an hour), and a good time. He thoroughly enjoyed part time jobs as a delivery driver for Reds Pizza and most recently Jade Dragon. He was a simple and nostalgic man who found great pleasure in reading and learning about his family history. He took many opportunities to share his knowledge and history of the community that he loved. He was well known for sharing his famous seven-layer salad and barbecue which were recipes from his mom Ruth Tootz. At family gatherings, he was the master of the gravy for all to enjoy over their sinker dumplings. Dave enjoyed socializing with his friends and family, especially the impromptu visits in his garage working on motorcycles. He loved driving through the state on his motorcycle with Candy at his side, stopping at local events and experiencing festivities. He and Candy spent many hours bird watching in different areas and taking pictures of the different scenes. He had a passion for animals; he missed his canine buddy, Banjo and enjoyed his new feline friend, Charlie. Dave is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Howard Moldenhauer, his grandparents Otto and Mamie Stoegbauer and many aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his sister Diane (Thomas) Ruck, nephew Jeffery (Kalen) Ruck, niece Beth (Henry Leal) Ruck, great niece Emily Ruck and great nephew Johnathan Leal. He is also survived by his precious moment Candy Sticka, best buddy, Mike Meidl and many, many wonderful friends, too numerous to mention. One of Daves last wishes was that friends and family come together for a celebration of his life. In addition to the memorial service, a celebration is being planned for January and as plans are put together, details will be communicated to all! A memorial gathering will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, (Westside) on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Daves name.
