David Wayne Mcclain

Born David Wayne McClain Jr. on June 1st, 1929 in Pittsburg, Kansas to David Wayne and Cecile McClain.Mac enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1946 at the age of seventeen. He proudly served his country in Air Force Intelligence for 28 and a half years, stationed all over the world including Crete, Hawaii and Germany. After leaving the service he proudly burned off the GI Bill by graduating from UT San Antonio.Mac and Barb were married Nov. 8, 1980 in San Antonio, Texas. They then moved to Oshkosh where they spent many years, most of them happy.Mac is survived by two children, Sandra (Michael) Yarborough and David Wayne McClain III (Belle), two step children, Jenny (Tommy) Boyd and Jeff Stromske. He is further survived by his constant companion, Monty. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Sherrie and nephew Mack Gwinn.A memorial service for Mac is being held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at First English Lutheran Church (1013 Minnesota St.) with Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.Mac was a unique, intelligent man who valued his privacy and he possessed a huge kind heart and a fantastic sarcastic sense of humor. He was truly a charming curmudgeon.A memorial has been established in his honor. The family asks that there please be no flowers.
