Dawn Marie Ashcraft

January 28, 1965 — March 18, 2018

Dawn M. Ashcraft (nee Losse), of Omro, age 53, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. She was born on January 28, 1965 in Oshkosh to Mike and Sharon (Getchel) Whitty. On October 27, 1989, Dawn was united in marriage to Jon Ashcraft at St. John’s Lutheran Church Oshkosh.
She graduated from Oshkosh North High School. Dawn worked at Plexus for 16 years in quality control and later owned and operated Fox Valley Recycling/GSR.
Dawn loved the beach, ocean and her trips to Florida. We imagine she is on the beach with her toes in the sand. We thank God for the years he did allow us to have her on Earth, and for choosing her as a guardian angel. She treasured her road trips with her daughters’ to enjoy NASCAR and dirt track races. Dawn also loved watching her youngest daughter and husband race. She treasured her vehicle rides with her son and their private special conversations. She was fun, loving and irreplaceable, but will never be forgotten; our rock and the glue that holds our family together. She was stubborn, but straight forward and that is what people loved about her. She was always on the go, but somehow found time to check in and be there for her family and friends. Dawn took care of everyone and never missed a chance to see her grandchildren grow.
Dawn never missed a steak night at the Hoe or Rock Fest! and let me tell you, she was the life of the party. She had so many second homes, but a few that she never could live without were Kwik Trip and Verve Credit Union. Her love for coffee was unimaginable.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Sharon; husband, Jon; children, Sherri (Josh) Wendt, Daniel Haase, Lexii (Alex) Ashcraft and Megan Ortmayer; grandchildren, Destiny Wilson and Xavier Wendt; brother, Scott Schiesl; fur babies, Stella and Big Daddy D; and grand puppies, Duke, Daytona and Storm.
Dawn was further survived by her Mother in Law, Penny Sanborn; sisters-in-law, Shannon (Jeff) Gaertner and Tansey Ashcraft; brother-in-law, Carl Ashcraft; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
She was preceded in death by grandma, Marie Losse; and father-in-law, Red Ashcraft.
A memorial service for Dawn will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Per Dawn’s request please dress casually as that’s the way she would have wanted it.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Dawn’s name.
The world has lost someone special. Dawn was a woman that would do anything she could for anyone and never once would she ask for anything in return.
“Grandma, you are my rock, my best friend, and there is no one in this world that can replace you. I miss you dearly, and I PROMISE I will get that nursing degree. I know you were proud of that. Fly high beautiful and continue watching over us. Forever your granddaughter.”
“Grandma, I want you to know how much I appreciated everything you did for me. It means the world to me that no matter how busy your life was and all that you had on your plate, that you never missed one of my 5k’s for Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. I love you dearly, please continue to help guide me, and know I will never forget you. Forever your grandson.”
“Daughter, I loved and will always cherish my yearly visits with you, all the time we got to spend with one another, and our daily lunches at Jackie’s Parkside Restaurant. I will miss you forever and until we meet again. Love Mom.”
Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.
