Dennis A. Dushenski

October 28, 1939 — March 8, 2011

Dennis A. Denny Dushenski, 71, of Oshkosh, past away Tuesday March 8, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center. He was diagnosed with cancer on Jan. 27, 2011, it was a short hard fought battle. Dennis was born October 28, 1939 in Oshkosh to John R. and Dorothy A. (Zarling) Dushenski. Denny graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1958. He went in the Army in 1961-1962 with the 32nd Division. After the service he served in the Guards for a number of years. April 4, 1964 he married his loving, devoted wife, Joy L. Pinno, whom he went on to share almost 47 wonderful years. He was employed by Rockwell International for the next 34 years, where he had made some of his dearest friends. Denny retired in Nov. 1995. After that he worked at Bemis packaging for the next 15 years. There he made a great friend, his boss Bob. Due to his health he decided to hang it up this past Dec. 31, 2010. For many years Dennis and his father worked for Gorwitz and Sons skinning mink, they would travel the month of November from mink ranch to mink ranch. Denny was known for being a hard worker. Dennis was a former member, for many years, of the Elks Club and is an American Legion member. In Dennys hay day, he sure loved hunting, especially ducks, with his dad and good friends, as his two daughters got older they shared the love of hunting with their dad, they have many stories to share about all the good times they spent up at the land deer hunting. Denny shared the love of golfing with his dad, he spent many years shagging balls and playing golf. Denny loved a good party and sure loved to host a party. He also never missed anything he was invited to, he always felt honored to be on someones guest list. Denny was an awesome dad, he took his girls on vacation around the United States, like trips out west and Hawaii, and to Jamaica and Mexico, these were some places he enjoyed with his family or with a group of friends. Sunday dinners were another favorite spending time with his family. He sure loved his granddaughters and his grand dog. Denny was a big football fan and he liked to gamble a bit. Joy and he had a wonderful group of friends whom they shared many years of going out to dinner and having some good laughs. He loved his wife with all his heart and despite his illness he made sure his beautiful wife, as he described her, had a bouquet of fresh flowers for their last Valentine together. Dennis loved his family and they always came first. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of almost 47 years, Joy Dushenski; his oldest daughter Kim Dushenski of Oshkosh; his youngest daughter Dawn Raddatz, son-in-law Randy Raddatz, who was always like a son, and his three granddaughters Emily, Gabrielle, and Elizabeth Raddatz all of Oshkosh; his grand dog Willow Dushenski; his aunt Delores and uncle Jerry Bryant of Oshkosh; his two sisters-in-law Jeanette Heimerman of Fond du Lac and Elaine Pinno of Oshkosh; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Ester Pinno, his grandparents, two brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law. A funeral service for Dennis will be held Saturday March 12, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Bill Van De Kreeke officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday at the Lake Pointe Dr. funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established. Dennys family would like to thank the dear friends, family, and wonderful neighbors for the visits, calls, and prayers through this hard time. A special thank you goes to Dr. Mike Knier, who was gem, to Dr. Dar of the cancer center, and his nurse Nell, and Dr. Schelman of UW-Madison Hospital. We cant thank the nurses at Aurora Medical Center enough for the kindness they gave our dad and to each of us. Every one of you are truly special people.
