Dewey Edward Nelson

Dewey E. Nelson, age 81, of Oshkosh, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019. He was born on September 8, 1937 in Iola, a son of Bert and Henrietta Nelson. Dewey was enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963 before marrying his beloved wife Marykay on May 2, 1964. Dewey was a kind man. Gentle and had a very considerate heart. He was a quiet man who would take any opportunity to help those he could. He went to college after the birth of his son, Erik; worked full time at Rockwell while going to school. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He continued working there for 32 years. When he retired he started a small lawn service. He always found time to help his wife with her catering business; he was a very hard worker. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish and enjoys his time outdoors. Dewey loved his golden retrievers. They helped him through several illnesses. He enjoyed building and remodeling homes, woodworking and wood burning.
Dewey is survived by his wife Marykay, son, Erik (Christine) Nelson, Grandson’s: Eric (Sara), and Zachary Nelson, and two Great Grandchildren: Hailey, and Timothy Nelson; brothers-in-law, Richard Haley, Dennis (Karen) Haley; and sister-in-law, Carol (William) Gee. Dewey is further survived by several nieces and nephews, of whom he thought the world of.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Henrietta Nelson.; sister-in-law, Jean Haley and brothers-in-law, John Haley and Robert Haley.
Funeral services for Dewey will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Westside Funeral Home (100 Lake Pointe Dr). Rev. Tim Greenwald will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery at 2 p.m.
He is at peace now and at home with the Lord. Memorial in place of flowers would be appreciated.
