Dorothy G. Schmidt

Dorothy Gertrude Schmidt, 97 passed peacefully to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday September 30, 2008. She was one of five children born to Harry and Mabel (Washburn) Stead.Dorothy attended schools in Omro and was valedictorian of her Senior Class in 1929. She was a stay at home Mom until her children were grown and then worked in food service at UWO until retirement. For several years she was a member of Eastern Star and was proud to be Worthy Matron. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Simeanna 1 Apartments and Bingo at Bethel Home. On April 7, 1931 she was united in marriage to Fred Fritz Schmidt. Their marriage was blessed with eight children. They moved to IL. in 1932, returning to Oshkosh in 1942.Dorothy is survived by her four daughters, Jeanette (Lowell) Hager of Elburn, IL., Joyce (Kenny) Thill, Donna (Jerry) Hawley and Linda Lind of Oshkosh, WI.. Three sons, Charles (Raedean) of Oshkosh,WI. Fred Rick (Carol) of Fond Du Lac,WI. and Dan (Cindy) from Pine River, WI. A daughter-in-law Patty Olson of Waupaca, WI. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren, Lowell and Tim Hager, Peggy Ward, Gracie Lueken, David Schmidt, Jerri Schmidt, Juli Urbschat, Mike Thill, Dee Ruedinger, Cathy Cartwright, Cheryl Messerschmidt, Terry and Richard Hawley, Jeff Schmidt, Erica Ratajczak, Bill and Steve Lind, Michelle Roth, Richard Schmidt, Lee Schmidt, Vanessa Roebke and Sue Watson, thirty-five great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren with the twelfth and thirteenth to be born in the near future. Plus numerous nieces, nephews and friendsPreceeding Dorothy in death was her husband, her parents, sisters and brothers, oldest son Duane, Grandsons Tommy Thill, Daryl Schmidt and Ivan Domena, Great Grandson Bobby Domena, son-in-law Marvin Lind and former daughter-in-law Jackie Schmidt. We would like to thank Dr. Kraemer, Mary Deli and all of the staff at Bethel home who went above and beyond when caring for our Mom so that her final days were lived with dignity and respect.The funeral for Dorothy will take place on Friday October 3, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Visitation will be held at the Lake Pointe Dr. funeral home on Friday from 11 AM until the service time. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
