Dorothy Mae Keen

Dorothy Mae Keen, 89, of Oshkosh died on Monday, February 10, 2014. She was born on January 13, 1925 in Prairie du Sac, WI the daughter of Wilbert and Elsie Magli Schoephorster. Dorothy Mae married Rev. Arthur J. Keen on June 24, 1947 in Prairie du Sac. Rev. Keen preceded her in death on September 13, 2001. Dorothy Mae was a graduate of Prairie du Sac High School, obtained her Bachelor of Arts from North Central College, Naperville, IL and received her Master of Science in Education from Wisconsin State University Whitewater. Dorothy Mae taught English and Reading in West Bend, Juda, Whitewater, Greenfield and Fond du Lac. They moved to Oshkosh in 1980 where Rev. Keen served Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church. Dorothy Mae loved to read and help others to read. The Keens loved to travel and took their children on vacations all around the country. They wintered in Green Valley, AZ for over 20 years where Dorothy Mae closely followed Arizona Wildcat basketball. She was a shareholder in the Green Bay Packers. Dorothy Mae was a music lover, giving piano lessons for several years and singing alto in many church choirs. Survivors include her son, A. Jay (Cassandra) Keen of Kerrville, TX; daughter, Lenore (Mark) Geisthardt of Appleton, WI; grandchildren, Jeremy (Samantha) Keen of Kissimmee, FL, Jessica (DeWanda Richard) Keen of Houston, TX, Steven Geisthardt of Neillsville, WI, and Russell (Laura) Geisthardt of Fort Collins, CO. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Maggie, Miles and Margot Keen, and Rylen and Tate Keen-Richard. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant daughter, Susan Cheryl Keen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church (1174 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI 54901) with the Rev. Berry Yarbro and Rev. Mark Geisthardt officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to the time of service. Burial will be in Prairie du Sac Cemetery.Memorial gifts may be made to Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church or the Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation.
