Dorothy Streeter, 86, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. Colon cancer was the major cause. She was born in Munising, MI., December 5, 1927 to the late Arthur and Leora (St. Peter) Utecht. She married Cecil L. Streeter on August 2, 1947.Dorothy was employed in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, as a coal and fuel oil company bookkeeper most of her working life. She loved moonlighting as a dance band piano player with the Soo's "Wimpy Smith Combo" for three decades. She made most of her evening wear. Dorothy's hands were never idle. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and beadwork. As the family genealogist she traced ancestors and kept track of the lives of current family members. Dorothy was adept at word-based puzzles and never missed "Wheel of Fortune."She is survived by two sons, Cecil (Susan) Streeter and Victor Streeter; daughter, Jayne (Patrick) Mulloy; two brothers, Arthur (Elizabeth) Utecht, Richard (Wanda) Utecht; grand-children, Carl (Stephanie) Streeter, Eric (Kristen) Streeter, Victoria (Joe) Kolonich, Brandi (Larry) Ruedinger, Jarett Burtt (fiancee' Jennifer Stevens), Derek (Erica) Mulloy and Adrian Mulloy; and eight great grand-children.She was preceeded in death by her husband Cecil Streeter and brothers Gerald and James Utecht. Visitation will take place Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside from 9:30am until the funeral services at 11am. Interment will take place at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens, Sault Ste. Marie, MI. on August 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., with services prior to interment. The family would like to remind everyone of the importance of cancer screening for early detection, which could save your life.
