Douglas John Potratz

Douglas J. Potratz, age 66, of Oshkosh, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2015. He was born on February 14, 1949, in Oshkosh, son of Harvey and Bernice Knutzen Potratz.He was a 1967 graduate of Oshkosh High, a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Wyldewood Baptist Church where he spent many years helping with the youth ministries and driving the church bus. He was a truck driver for over 40 years, the last 17 with Swift Transportation.Doug was a very generous person helping people in need in whatever way he could. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially his annual golf outings.He is survived by his mother, Bernice Potratz; two brothers: Richard (Carole) Potratz and James (Paula) Potratz; four sisters: Myrna (Thomas) Kaufmann, Sharon Potratz, Christine (Thomas) Vogelin and Laurie (Robert) Ives; further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey.Funeral services for Doug will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Wyldewood Baptist Church with Rev. Randall King officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside and again on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Town of Black Wolf. A memorial has been established.The Potratz family would like to thank Theda Care Hospice nurses for their care of Doug.
