Douglas Lester Strong

Douglas L. Doug Strong, age 54, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on December 20, 1961 in New London, WI to the late Ralph and Dorothy (Fields) Strong. Doug was adopted by Gerald E. (Carol) Staerkel. He married Debora Deb Tiffany on November 6, 1981 in Oshkosh.Doug, in his early years, worked as a concrete worker until he was disabled. He enjoyed riding motorcycle, fishing, camping, watching the Packers and boxing. Above all however, Doug loved spending time with his family and friends.Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Deb Strong; daughters, Shannon (Lester) Duesterhoeft and Sherry (fiancee James Blanck) Strong; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Heidi, Ava and Alyvia Duesterhoeft, and Alessa and Liam Douglas Blanck. He is further survived by his adopted father, Gerald Staerkel, brothers and sister, Jeff (Darlene) Strong, Kim (Terry) Strong-Buss, Troy (Diane) Staerkel, and Trent Staerkel, as well as many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.A celebration of life will be held for Doug at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at the Rainbow Park Pavilion between Rainbow Dr. and Veterans Trail in Oshkosh. Family and friends will gather for a brief service and spend time remembering Doug.
