Earl Frederick Macdonald

Earl F. MacDonald, age 88, passed away at Bethel Home on Saturday September 21, 2013. He was born on January 11, 1925 in Oshkosh a son of Willis and Helen Konrad MacDonald. He attended Longfellow School and went to Oshkosh High School. Upon graduation in 1941 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He served on the U.S.C.G.C. COBB. Earl was discharged on March 14, 1946. He returned to Oshkosh and attended Oshkosh Teachers College. Earl had worked for Commercial Credit in Milwaukee, at Dunphey Boat, and Buckstaff Co. in Oshkosh, and at K.C. Aviation in AppletonIn 1953 he married Mary Lechleiter in St. Pauls Church. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this year.Earl enjoyed the season of the year in his own way. Summer was for sailing on Lake Winnebago and Slow Pitch softball for Buckstaff Co. Fall was deer, duck and turkey hunting. Winter was ice boating, and spring was fishing and turkey hunting. He was a member of ILYA-Oshkosh Yacht Club, Ducks Unlimited, Hanks Club, Southside Ice Yacht Club, Bilge Pullers, American Legion and Last Mans Club. He enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Bonnie(John) Cull, son Jeff MacDonald, two grandsons Jeff(Laura) Jungwirth, Alex Anderson, one sister Claire Sue Shannon, a niece Colleen Shannon a brother-in-law Mike Lechleiter.He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Helen Kenyon, and an infant brother Willis MacDonald Jr.A Visitation for Earl will be held on Friday September 27, 2013 from 4-7 pm at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside. Military Honors will be performed at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank the staff at Bethel Home for their care and support.
