Elaine O. Hartman

December 7, 1929 — April 4, 2021

Elaine O. Hartman, age 91, of Oshkosh, died peacefully on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Evergreen.

Elaine was born December 7, 1929 in Oshkosh and was the first of two children born to Otto and Marie Schmude. She was a graduate of Oshkosh High School in 1948. On December 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Clyde Hartman. They lived and raised their three daughters in Oshkosh.

Elaine’s family was her pride and joy. She retired early to care for all seven of her grandchildren. Elaine was also an avid sports fan. She never missed a Packers game, loved Badgers football and basketball, and enjoyed watching hours of golf with Clyde, especially her favorite golfer, Tiger Woods. Elaine treasured the many friendships she developed on her frequent bus trips to Oneida Casino. She had a great time playing bingo and sharing her good news when she won, but what she looked forward to the most were the conversations she shared with her friends on the trip. Even at the ripe old age of 91, Elaine was not afraid of technology. She loved her laptop, her kindle, and her iPhone and iPad. She enjoyed spending time on Facebook, seeing all the photos that her friends and family shared.

She is survived by two daughters, Steph (Clark) Nipko, and Michele (Matt) Meszaros; son-in-law Bill Wittkowske; seven grandchildren, Seth and Aaron Wittkowske, Shannon (Mike) Kudick, Eric and Trevor Nipko, Ethan and Adrianna Meszaros; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte Wittkowske and Elaina Kudick; sisters-in-law Arlette Schmude, and Diane Hartman; brother-in-law Glen Hartman; special nephew Steve (Deb) Jungwirth; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter Cherie Hartman; brother Marlin Schmude; sisters-in-law Muriel Robinson, Shirley Jungwirth, Ruby Hartman, and Joann Hartman; brothers-in-law David Robinson, Jerome Jungwirth, George Hartman, and Harvey Hartman.
