Elmer Fred Sawall

Elmer F. Mike Sawall 80 of Oshkosh died at Mercy Medical Center on Tuesday June 24, 2008. He was born in Waukau on July 20, 1927 a son of Paul and Ida Kniess Sawall. On April 18, 1949 he married Helen Buchholz in Ripon, WI.Elmer served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Oshkosh BGosh Corporation. Elmer enjoyed making art out of what others saw as just junk such as bottle caps, cardboard creations, gum wrappers, and his latest project, colored pen mobiles. He made toys for his dear grandchildren, enjoyed bowling, playing the accordion, playing cribbage, sheepshead, jarts, watching movies, working crossword puzzles, watching the Packers and Brewers. Mike made daily trips to Pick N Save religiously to socialize and help out in the store. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen; one son, Michael Sawall, Oshkosh; three daughters, Wendy (Hank) Ziebol, Ames, IA; Marie Sawall, Winnebago, WI; Rachel (Randy) Guzman, Oshkosh; 10 grandchildren, Curtis Sawall, Leo (Kate) Ziebol, Philip Ziebol, Chad Ziebol, Mitchell Ziebol, Samuel Ziebol, Henry Ziebol, Dylan Guzman, Sierra Guzman and Dakota Guzman; two step grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Wilkinson, Nick (Malissa) Guzman; four step great grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Mathwig, Tigerton, WI; four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and friend Amy Attenberger. Elmer was preceded in death by one son, Frank Sawall, his parents, three brothers, George, Charles and Robert Sawall.Funeral services will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Eastside on Friday June 27, 2008 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Dottie Matthews officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 12:30 PM to the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.Mikes family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center for the compassionate care they gave him, and the paramedics and police for there efforts and help at a difficult time.
