Elmer Irving Freda

Elmer Irving Freda, 96, of Oshkosh, died at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, October 6, 2011. Elmer was born in Oshkosh on October 5, 1915 the son of Joseph and Lorraine (Hansen) Freda. He married Naomi DeHart on April 2, 1946 and she preceded him in death on December 20, 2005.Elmer was a WWII Veteran proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. While in the Army Elmer was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the ETO Service Ribbon with four Bronze Stars Ribbon and four Overseas Service Bars. He took great pride spending time with his children and grandchildren.Survivors include his children: Gary (Lisa) Freda, Marge Freda, Jean (John) Drexler; grandchildren, Lori Pitzen-Doherty, Thomas Binner, Todd Binner, Matthew Johnson, Matthew Gunderson, Kara Gunderson, Jared Drexler; great grandchildren, Madison Binner-Roeber, Logan Binner, Sara Doherty, Shian Doherty, Madison Johnson; sisters Ruth Weigand and Margaret Ireland. Along with his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Pitzen on September 25, 1977.Per Elmers wishes a private service was held and interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
