Erwin H Woldt

Erwin H. Woldt, 91, of Oshkosh, was born to eternal life on August 29, 2005 because of the glorious victory over sin and death by his Lord Jesus Christ at His resurrection. Erwins love for Jesus and people around him showed throughout his life. Erwin was born at 246 Sixteenth St. Oshkosh on March 15, 1914 to Gustave Woldt and Helene (Radig) Woldt. He was the fifth of eight children. He married Elsa Stelzner Nevins in September of 1940, Elsa preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ernst, Walter, Harold and Louis Woldt and sisters, Emma Peters and Hilda Woldt.He enlisted in the Navy on July 10, 1940 and was assigned to a submarine tender, U.S. Holland for one year, then he was assigned to work as a machinist in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and was there on December 7, 1941 when the Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. Before joining the Navy he worked as a machinist fixing appliances for Henderson Hoyt Company, Oshkosh. He lived in Oshkosh, then aboard ship, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii then the Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut until his discharge. After discharge he worked as a maintenance man at Oaklawn and Emmeline Cook Schools, Oshkosh.During the bombing of Pearl Harbor Erwin said he made the most important decision of his life, he invited Jesus Christ to be the Savior and Lord and Master of his life. He belongs to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.Erwins sister, Ruth Woldt survives him. His children Ralph (Ann) Woldt, Mt. Morris, WI, Paul Woldt of Windsor, CA and Arlene (James) Bauernfeind of Appleton survive. His ten great-grandchildren love Erwin dearly.The funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 1:30 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (eastside) with the Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 PM to the time of service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please donate to the church of your choice.
