Eva Katherine Strycker has been reunited with her husband Herbert in Gods holy kingdom. Eva passed away peacefully and gently on Tuesday August 8, 2006. She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on April 12, 1912 to parents Ella and William Dumke. While working at Oshkosh BGosh she met Herbert B. Strycker. They were married on June 21, 1947. Together they made their home in Oshkosh, started a family and were blessed with three children. Eva was the manager of Oak Manor Retirement Home for fifteen years, but her most important job was loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a life-long and faithful member of St. Mary Parish.Grateful to have shared in Evas life are her children, Kathy (Tom) Mundl of Wausau, Ellen (Steve) McDonald and Mike (Mary) Strycker of Oshkosh. She will remain forever in the hearts of ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, and will always be loved by her many nieces and nephews. Evas beloved husband Herbert, sister Bernice Koelbl, brother Bob Dumke, and stepson Paul Strycker preceded her in death. Her hobbies included gardening, watching sports (any kind of sports), eating at Mikes Place and taking a ride through the park, but Evas passion was her family. She was the hub of the Strycker clan, the glue that held it together. Eva had an amazing spirit that radiated her courage, strength and tenacity, a light within her that shone with grace and determination. She instilled in her family a sense of togetherness and oneness, a love of nature and a strong faith in God. She left her loved ones a life-long example of selflessness, and the importance of placing faith and family before oneself. All who knew Eva will remember that her smile lit up a room and her laughter lifted spirits.Funeral services for Eva will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Oshkosh, on Friday, August 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Robert Stegmann and led in prayer by Sister Judith Miller. Friends and family may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. The family wants to express our heart-felt thanks to Caregivers Home Health, Meals on Wheels volunteers, and Northpoint Rehabilitation and Medical Center for their gentle care and kindness.Treasure her Lord in your garden of rest, for here on earth she was one of the best.
