Evelyn Straveler

March 22, 1943 — May 13, 2023

Evelyn “Evie” Grace Gillen Straveler, age 80, passed away on Saturday, May 13th,2023 in Kaukauna. Evelyn was born March 22nd,1943 to the late Harold and Irma (Petrich). She married Gerald “Joe” Straveler on July 14th,1962. They shared 57 beautiful love filled years together until he preceded her in death on January 20th,2020.

Evelyn was a beloving wife and mom to her children. She worked for Oshkosh B’Gosh as an embroidery and sewing specialist for 35 years until the company closed. She then found joy working at the Pickett Community Center. After Evelyn “retired” she worked a few hours a week serving lunch to the kiddos at Emeline Cook Elementary School. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Sundays watching Football. Green and gold of the Green Bay Packers was displayed proudly in their home. She loved to bake, garden and later Bingo became a fun activity she learned to enjoy. She was so excited to show her prizes from winning or tell you how many quarters she had total.

Evelyn is survived by two sons; William (Julie) and Bert Straveler, one daughter; Brenda (Timothy) Zentner, one sister; Nancy (Ronald) Haima, four grandchildren; Tiffany (Michael) Ebel, Bryson Straveler, Corey (Gena) Fritsch, and Shelby (Brandon) Guendel, and five great grandchildren; Claudia, Olive, Ezra, Avery, and Juniper. Evelyn was preceded in death by; her parents, three sisters, Vivian (Stan) Brazelton, Joyce, and Mary Gillen (infant), three brothers; Edward (Betty), David (Wilma), and Darrold Gillen

The funeral services for Evelyn will be at 12PM on Friday, May 19th in Lake View Memorial Park Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd Oshkosh, WI 54901. Rev. Maggie Berndt-Dreyer will be officiating. A time of visitation will be from 10AM until the time of the service with burial to follow.
