Farrel Kent Swisher

Farrel K. Bud Swisher, 95, Oshkosh died at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, December 7, 2006. Bud was born in Stronghurst, IL on September 18, 1911, a son of Oscar and Maude Nickell Swisher. He married Laverna June Gehrke on December 24, 1941 in Omro.Bud was raised in Iowa, and after coming to Oshkosh had been employed with the Leach Company and Pine Ihrig Company, and after moving to Berlin, worked for the Berlin School District for 30 years. After retiring, he returned to Oshkosh. Bud was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed making wooden toys.He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, June Swisher, Oshkosh; a sister, Thelma Meyer, Neenah; two brothers-in-law, Donald Gehrke, and Francis Poncho (Jean) Gehrke, all of Oshkosh; a niece and nephew, who Bud and June raised as their own children, Lorreta (Roland) Strehlow, Cedarburg; and Richard (Loraine) Hertzberg, Winneconne; and other nieces and nephews.Preceding him in death were five brothers, four sisters, one brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.Funeral services will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 AM. with Rev. Thomas Willadsen officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00AM to the time of service. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery. A memorial has been established to First Presbyterian Church.
