Foster William Plantz

Foster William Plantz, 86, of Oshkosh passed away on Friday August 25, 2006 at Park View Health Center. He was born October 28, 1919 in Pickett, to the late William and Pearl (Lewellyn) Plantz. Foster went to grade school in Pickett and to Ripon High School. He graduated from Hemphill Diesel School in Chicago, IL. On May 9, 1942 he married Amber Reitz in First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. They had on son William Billy, and lived in the Pickett area until retirement, when they moved to Oshkosh in 1985. They had a small farm and Foster owned and operated Plantz and Son Excavating for many years. Foster was an avid hunter and sportsman. He enjoyed fishing, stock car racing, bowling, and visiting with his many duck hunters and friends. He spent many loving hours with their mentally handicapped son, Billy, teaching him how to get along in life. For the past three years, both he and his wife Amber have resided at Park View Health Center, due to Alzheimers disease. Foster was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Oshkosh. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Amber; son William, a sister Margie Bradley, all of Oshkosh; two sisters-in-law Irene Plantz, of Pickett; Virginia Dehn, of Oshkosh; and three brothers-in-law, Ray (Flossie) Reitz, of Fond du Lac; Rexford (Donna) Reitz, of Van Dyne; and Hilbert Wilke, of Ripon; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ferne Gelhar, one brother, Clifford Plantz, one sister-in-law, Loretta Wilke, three brothers-in-law John Bradley, Donald Gelhar, Victor Dehn, and a nephew, Alan Plantz. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday August 29, 2006 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Marvin Ahlborn officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be at Liberty Prairie Cemetery in Pickett. A memorial has been established to Park View Health Center, 725 Butler Ave. Winnebago, WI 54985. Thank you to his loving niece Mary Peterson and to the staff and caring nurses at Park View Health Center.
