Francis P. "Jack" Truyman

Francis P. “Jack” Truyman, age 92, of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. He was born April 4, 1926 in Kaukauna, the son of Benedict and Theresa Truyman. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his service time he was discharged as a petty officer second class in June 1946. His naval service was spent in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.

Jack graduated with a degree in Accounting from Benjamin Franklin University, Washington D.C. in 1949. He married Laura DeLaat on July 23, 1949, at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna. He was employed for 37 years as treasurer of Johnson Foods, Inc. where he also served on the Board of Directors until his retirement on December 31, 1987. He gave generously of his free time to St. Mary’s Church which he served as parish treasurer and as usher and lector for over 35 years. He was secretary and then president of St. Mary’s Holy Name Society.

In his younger years Jack was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and secretary of the Oshkosh Jaycees. Jack was a life member of the Oshkosh Elks Lodge No 292 and was elected Exalted Ruler (President) in 1973. He also served the Elks Lodge as Secretary, Treasurer, Trustee at various times and was Lodge Parliamentarian in later years. In 1978 he was appointed a District Deputy for ten Elk Lodges in Wisconsin. He enjoyed bowling and golf and after retirement “yard work”. He was an Elks Club volunteer for many years.

Jack is survived by Laura his wife of almost 70 years; three children, Donald (Gloria Wilson), Linda (Daniel) Plotz, and Ellen (Dennis) Miller; seven grandchildren: Scott (Kasi) Ludwig, Ryan (Olivia) Ludwig, Stephanie Plotz (Bob Bursek), Christopher Plotz, Melissa (Cory) Mielke, Patty (Kyle) Fugar, Benjamin Truyman; eleven great grandchildren. He is further survived by one sister, Evelyn and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Benedict and Jerome; sister, Lorraine; great granddaughter, Lily Boettcher.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Mary’s site, 605 Merritt Avenue, Oshkosh, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. Memorials may be given to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish or the Elks Lodge PERs.
