Gary M. Cleveland, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at home with his family by his side. He was born on July 10, 1951 to Hollis Edward and Clarice (Logan) Cleveland in Birmingham, AL. He married the love of his life, Deborah Doughty, on October 23, 1971 in Pinellas Park, FL.Gary was the minister at Oakhaven Church for the last thirty-seven years. He dedicated his life to serving others and loving his family. He loved spending time with young people. His ministry included over twenty years serving on the Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp board and spending two weeks each summer teaching and mentoring young people how to live a life and faith that matters. He also loved hiking, canoeing and backpacking and spent one week each summer with Oakhavens youth group on their annual Youth Trek. Gary lived his life with open arms and gratitude to the God who created him. He was survived by his wife Deborah; sons, Nathan (Erin) Cleveland, Matthew (Sarah) Cleveland, and Joshua (Katie) Cleveland; brothers, Mickey (Katie) Cleveland and Wesley (Kim) Cleveland; and grandchildren, Paisly, Harper, Zella, Cormac, Kasia, Isamae, Cian, and Nellie.Gary was further survived by nieces, Heather and Michelle Cleveland; nephews, Wesley Jr., Lance, and Nicholas Cleveland; his in-laws Ervin and Jane Doughty; brother-in-law Dennis (Kathy) Doughty and their grown daughters Jill and Kandy; and special friends Don and Judy Truitt. His grandparents, Lance and Velma Cleveland and his parents Hollis and Clarice Cleveland preceded him in death.A memorial service will be held at Oakhaven Church at (2175 Witzel Avenue, Oshkosh) on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Don Truitt of Mountain Home, AR officiating.Memorials may be made to Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp and The House of Compassion in Rochester, MN.The family would like send a Thank You to the Oakhaven church family, House of Compassion, Dr. Matthew Block at Mayo Clinic, and the Aurora VNA.
