Gary Franklin Haffeman

Gary F. Haffeman, died suddenly of cardiac arrest on Thursday, June 9th.Gary was born on January 1st, 1952 in Oshkosh to Frank and Lorraine (Hammerseng) Haffeman. He was Oshkoshs New Years baby! He married his childhood sweetheart, Tina King, on April 20th, 1974.Gary was a star athlete at Oshkosh High School excelling in basketball and most especially baseball. He pitched a perfect no hitter on May 1st, 1969. In 1974 Gary began his teaching career in the Neenah Joint School District where he remained a well loved teacher, colleague and coach for 32 years. Upon retirement he began a successful career as a real estate agent with Adashun Jones. Gary is survived by his wife, Tina; very close daughter, Hadley (Paul) Burger; and adored grandchildren Max and Ellie Burger. He is further survived by sisters, Sandy (Jeff) Roebke, Susan Haffeman Lang, Peggy (Richard) Forseth, and Nancy (Steve) Bertz; brother, Mark; father and mother in law, John B. and Mary Ann King; godchildren, Brandon, Katelund, and Kelsey; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lorraine. He was intellectually curious with a keen interest in music, art, and history. He was proud to serve on the Board of the Oshkosh Public Museum.Gary will be remembered as a gracious and humble man with a generous spirit. He will forever be missed dearly by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 311 Division St., Oshkosh at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24th with Fr. Chris Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at the church.
