George Elmer Campbell

George E. Campbell, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born on December 31, 1928, to the late Ivan and Clara (Bellows) Campbell in Barron, WI. He married Marie Ashlin. She preceded him in death. George spent nineteen years with his life partner Yvonne Kryzaniak.
He graduated from Barron High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the 501st Military Police. George was the owner/operator of the Dairy Queen in Chetek, WI, a Barron City police officer, owner of a Texaco gas station and worked at the theaters in Branson, MO.
He was a life member of the Chetek American Legion post 0179, a loyal order of the Moose Club for 50 years, member of the EAA and volunteered at the air venture, was a member of the Winnebago Motor Home organization for 40 years and was greatly honored to have been on the Old Glory Honor Flight that flew to Washington D.C. on September 14, 2016.
George is survived by his life partner, Yvonne; sons, Brian (Ronda) of Muskegon, MI and Loren (Emily) of Lakeville, MN; step children, Lynn (Tim) Binder of Mt. Morris, Rick (Karen) Kryzaniak of Oshkosh and Steve (Beth) Kryzaniak also of Oshkosh; brothers, Lloyd Campbell of Barron and Norman Campbell of Milwaukee; and grandchildren, Sarah (Fiancé Chris) Campbell , Canton, WI, Christina (Fiancé Will) Campbell, Muskegon, MI, Matt Campbell, Rice Lake, WI, Heather, Derek and Austin Campbell Minneapolis, MN, Michelle (David) Last, Oshkosh, Craig (Stephanie) Binder, Oshkosh, and Dave, Katie, Cody and Sarah Kryzaniak all of Oshkosh; and sixteen great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in law, Janet.
A memorial service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes- (100 Lake Pointe Dr. Oshkosh, WI 54904). Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Another memorial service for George will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Rausch & Steel Funeral Home (19 S 3rd St. Barron, WI 54812). Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be immediately following at Wayside Cemetery in Barron where full military honors will held.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to a charity of your choice in George’s name.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bethel Home, the staff at Serenity Gardens and to the Affinity Hospice for all the love and wonderful care they gave to George.
