George Joseph King

March 31, 1918 — June 19, 2006

George J. King, 88, of Oshkosh, died Monday June 19, 2006 at Valley VNA Assisted Living in Neenah. He was born March 31, 1918, in Chicago, IL. George married Patricia Carroll in Mukwonago, WI. She preceded him in death on May 28, 1993.George served his country in the US Army during WW II, where he earned the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal. He worked for National Catholic Society of Foresters Insurance in Chicago where he retired. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Chicago, and was an avid Bear and White Sox fan. George moved to Oshkosh five years ago to be closer to his family. He is survived by three daughters, Colleen (Scott) Harvot of Oshkosh, Carroll King M.D. of Houston, TX, and Mary Kay Brent of Eugene, OR; two grand children, Ryan Harvot of Oshkosh, and Chad (Heather) Barczak of Eugene, OR, one great-grand son, Caden Barczak of Eugene, OR, and his special companion, his dog Lambeau.Funeral Mass for George will be held on Thursday June 22, 2006 at 11:00 am at St Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church (830 S Westhaven Dr) with Fr Doug LeCaptain officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of service. Full military honors will follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. The family would like to thank Valley VNA Health Systems, especially Elaine Hotchkiss, and Barb Sonnleitner for their care and compassion.
