Gerald R. Dreyer, 72, of Oshkosh, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Gerald was born on September 23, 1933 in Oshkosh, a son of Carl and Bernice Steinert Dreyer. On February 14, 1970 he married Millicent Cole in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1988.Gerald attended Oshkosh High, graduating in 1953 and then moved to California where he had also attended USC. He served his Country in the National Guard and was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church. He loved the Lord and studied the Bible. He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Phoenix, AZ, as a Supervisor and as a Manager for The Royal Coachman in West Covina, CA. Jerry also had a love for all dogs. After retirement Jerry moved to Mulberry AR and later Mapleton, MN to be near his cousins. Because of his love of people and good conversation he took on a position of Greeter at Walmart and was a hospital volunteer. As his health declined he and his buddy Marty made numerous trips to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and spent the last two years at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home in LaCrosse until August of this year where he returned to his birthplace, Oshkosh, where he resided at Bethel Home. Survivors include a brother, Carl (Geneva) Dreyer Jr. of Oshkosh; a step son, Jeffrey Cole of Missoula, MT; a step daughter, Kathy Cook of Magnolia, TX; a nephew, Scott Dreyer of Oshkosh; two nieces, Becky (Dennis) Stark, Michelle (David) Rueger both of Oshkosh and cousins, Bonnie (Marty) Kluge, Brian (Fiance Kelly Bialcik) Kluge, Nickie Kluge, Tami DeNure, Tracy Cook, Clarence Schnell, Ethel Buchanan. Along with his wife, Gerald was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Dreyer, and a step-son, Wayne Mike Cole.A Memorial Service for Gerald will be held on Sunday November 13,2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Milton Staskal officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from Noon until the service time.Jerrys family wishes to send a special thanks to Dr Kyla Lee, Nurse Kathy, all of his attentive caregivers and his dear friends, at the Bethany Riverside Home in LaCrosse.
